New Features
MOBILE BROWSER GUEST APPLICATION
Laser Pointer Tool
To provide Assist participants additional collaboration capabilities, we’ve enabled the laser tool for guests who join an Assist session via the browser guest app. The laser pointer tool is available when video is actively streaming. The guest user can be the streaming party or a non-streaming participant in the session.
Refer to the depiction below for the layout of the laser pointer tool within the browser guest app.
BROWSER HOST APPLICATION
Mute Participants
Hosts using the browser host application can now mute participants, aligning with the capability supported in the desktop app. This is helpful for those situations where a participant is presenting noise in the session.
Clear All Annotations
Hosts using the browser host application can now clear all annotations, aligning with the capability supported in the desktop app.
ServiceNow: Support for Assist Browser Host Application
With Release 25.02, we do the necessary preparatory work to enable users of the CareAR ServiceNow Connector to use the browser host application. When Release 25.02 of the CareAR ServiceNow Connector is released and loaded, then the ServiceNow Connector will launch the Assist browser host application instead of cross-launching the desktop Assist application. Look for the CareAR for ServiceNow v.25.02 release notes for details.
Salesforce: Support for Assist Web Host App
With Release 25.02, we do the necessary preparatory work to enable users of the CareAR Salesforce Connector to use the browser host application. With the next release of the CareAR Salesforce Connector is released and loaded, then the Salesforce Connector will launch the Assist browser host application instead of cross-launching the desktop Assist application. Look for the CareAR for Salesforce v.25.02 release notes for details.
CAREAR MOBILE APPLICATION
Line Thickness Revisions
We updated the thickness options on the CareAR Mobile application, offering a narrower line thickness.
Scan Function Performance Improvements
We made enhancements to the scan function for the testing mode frame rate performance. Note that the test mode button formerly supported on the portal was removed.
CAREAR PORTAL
Download Assist Video from Portal
Users in the CareAR Portal can now download video recordings. This capability is like downloading a snapshot image: the user navigates to the Session Activity screen, finds the Assist session record of interest, clicks the video link, and the video player is launched. Within the video player is the option to download the video file. This capability is available when the playback of videos is permitted (checkbox in the AWS Connector profile in the Connector Center and appropriate permissions are applied to the AWS S3 bucket).
EXPERIENCE BUILDER
Resizable 3D Element
We have added the ability to resize the 3D element within the CareAR Experience Builder. Previously, the 3D element, which displays your .glb files, would only appear in a full-screen view. Now, you can adjust the size of the 3D element to occupy only a portion of the page, allowing for more flexible and dynamic layouts in your experiences. Take advantage of this new capability to integrate 3D models seamlessly alongside other content on your page.
Copy / Paste Images
You can now copy images from any image element within your experience and paste them directly into another image element. This new functionality makes replicating images across different pages of your experience fast and efficient. Effortlessly streamline your content creation process and ensure consistency by utilizing this simple copy and paste for images.
To use the copy and paste feature:
- Select the source image element
- Right-click on the image
- Select Copy from the popup menu
- Select the destination image element
- Right-click on the image element
- Select Paste form the popup menu
VISUAL VERIFICATION REARCHITECTED
We have completed significant rearchitecting of our Visual Verification feature. This extensive work focused on enhancing the internal structure and performance of the feature. While you won't see any changes on the surface, these efforts lay the groundwork for future improvements and ensure the continued stability and efficiency of Visual Verification.
The changes are mostly transparent to users. However, there are some changes that will be noticed:
- Portal Test Mode Deprecation – Prior to this release, users could upload an image and test it against a trained ML model. Due to little adoption of this feature, it is being deprecated. Instead users should use the test mode within the CareAR app.
- ML Model Upload for YOLOv8 SMALL Not Yet Available – The import / export feature for ML models created using YOLOv8 SMALL will be limited with this release. While users can export the model, errors can occur on the upload. This known issue will be resolved in our next release. NOTE: YOLOv8 TINY, which is the default, is unaffected.
- Project Import / Export – The project Import / Export feature is no longer available in this release. This known issue will be resolved in our next release.
- CareAR App Training Status – The percent complete model training status has been removed from the CareAR app. This was done due to customer feedback and low utilization.
- Non-Latin Character Support - CareAR has extended the character sets used on elements and objects relating to the creation of the ML model. We now support non-Latin character sets (including Japanese) on the portal for projects, scans, labels, and models.
- ML Model Training Time – Training time for ML models may take longer that previously experienced.
If you do happen to notice any unexpected changes in the behavior of Visual Verification, please contact our support team immediately at service@carear.com.
