For some networks, a reduced connection option might be required where a smaller range of connection options is preferred over optimal network connectivity. This is handled through the process of Media Proxy using a limited set of servers and different set of ports to connect to the CareAR services.
CareAR offers this Media Proxy access for both the installed native application as well as the host web application. The underlying connections for each of these connection journeys are below.
CareAR Proxy Media Firewall Requirements (Native App)
If you are looking for only a limited number of servers, the following is used for Media Proxy without specific Media Geofencing configured:
Global | Protocol | Port | Used to |
---|---|---|---|
• 184.72.16.87 |
UDP |
|
Access the signaling service |
• 128.14.195.192/28 |
UDP |
|
Access the media service |
CareAR Proxy Media Firewall Requirements with Media Geofencing (Native App)
If your network requires you to also restrict, further combining both Media Geofencing and Media Proxy to limit network connectivity to very specific connections over optimal network connectivity will result in the following connection points per region:
North America | Protocol | Port | Used to |
---|---|---|---|
• 184.72.16.87 |
UDP |
|
Access the signalling service |
• 128.14.195.192/28 |

CareAR Proxy Media Firewall Requirements (Web Host App)
When your uses are utilizing the Web Host App for CareAR Assist workflows while the Media Proxy mode is enabled for host the following servers would be utilized on both TCP and UDP 443 for connectivity:
Global | Protocols | Port | Used to |
---|---|---|---|
• 47.252.17.251 |
• TCP • UDP |
|
Access the signaling service |
• 164.52.24.44 |
• TCP • UDP |
|
Access the media service |
CareAR Proxy Media Firewall Requirements with Media Geofencing (Web Host App)
If your network requires you to also restrict connections to specific countries this feature of Media Proxy can be combined with the feature of Geofencing to further limit the list of IP addresses. Below will be the results when combining both Media Proxy in combination with Geofencing:
North America | Protocols | Port | Used to |
---|---|---|---|
• 47.252.17.251 |
• TCP |
|
Access the signalling service |
• 128.14.195.192/28 |
• TCP |

How do I enable this Media Proxy on CareAR?
The tenant administrator will need to log into https://carear.app/#/admin to control settings of the tenant. On the My Company page, you will have a section to configure your Media Proxy and Media Geofencing preferences. Note: that when changes are made to the media controls, users must log out and log back in to effect these changes.
