Release 22.01 of CareAR Assist is a maintenance release with the following content:
- Usability enhancements
- Additional mobile browser support
- Portal report enhancements
- Miscellaneous bug fixes and known issues
Usability Enhancements
The following usability enhancements were delivered in release 22.01:
1 Calibration when AR hints disabled
When a session participant is streaming video into the session and has AR hints disabled, the calibration is now more robust. This addresses an issue observed in 21.06 (with AR hints disabled) where annotations failed to anchor.
2 Return of the crosshatches
When a session participant is streaming video into the session and has AR hints disabled, the white crosshatches are now displayed once the surface is analyzed and mapped. This provides hints to a streaming user that the app is effectively mapping the area and is ready for annotations. This capability was restored from release 21.05.
3 Streamlined session start and synch of sending invite
For hosts starting a session we’ve removed two of the steps (from four) to allow the session to start more quickly. The “Got it” popup and the “Pre-Session” screen are no longer presented to the host.
As a result, the session can start more quickly, and the session start and sending of the invitation to the guest is more closely synchronized.
4 Plus One Optional
Release 21.06 tightened the number format requirements and required all numbers to be of the format “+ country code number”. This created usability challenges for our user base and in release 22.01 we’ve restored the previous behavior which allowed a 10-digit North American number to be entered – no “+” and no country code required. This change has been implemented in the CareAR Assist app and the portal.
5 Desktop App: New option to send invite from input field
Users of the desktop app often reduce the app window size to accommodate other applications in the display workspace. There is a scenario identified in SUP-170 where below a certain size of app window, the Start Session popup modal has the lower two buttons hidden. This design is confusing as it was not obvious that there were two scrollbars in the popup modal.
This design attempted to address two distinct use cases: the field tech getting support from a fellow tenant user and the customer support use case which nearly always involves starting a session with a guest outside the tenant membership. A more complete UX design will be delivered in a future release.
A more thorough redesign is underway and, in the meantime, we are activating the small icon (chat bubble with three dots) displayed one the same input field as the guest’s phone number or email address. The host can then click that icon and immediately launch the session. (Note the enhancement in 2.3.)
6 Role displayed in user profile screen
A user can view the role that they were assigned by the tenant administrated by navigating the Profile screen on their app. The role is displayed under the profile photo, above the primary mobile phone number. The user’s role may be one of the following: tenant admin, analyst, or regular.
7 Session Recording progress notification to new Participant
If session recording is underway and a participant joins after the recording has started, a notification is now provided to the late arriving participant.
8 Display of Session ID that Matches a Recorded Call
For easier recording retrieval, we now include the session ID on web portal, so that user can more easily find, play, and retrieve the correct recording file from the user’s AWS S3 bucket.
Mobile Browser Enhancements
1 Additional Mobile Browser Support
As it becomes possible and practical, we are looking to expand the browsers we can support for CareAR Assist for Browser.
With release 22.01, we have added support for two additional mobile browsers:
- Samsung Internet (Android)
- Brave (iOS and Android)
2 Call to Action to Download App
A guest who joined via the browser app will now see, once the session has ended, an invitation to download the native app from the respective app store. Further, an iOS user will see only a button to download the iOS app and an Android user will see only a button to download the Android app.
Report Enhancements
A few additional modifications were made to the reports available to users at the portal.
1 Session Activity Report
The Session Activity report now includes
- How user has joined the session (browser or app)
- The user's device type (if joined via app)
- The operating system used by the device (if joined via app)
- The browser type and browser version (if user joined via browser)
- Note that not all browsers report version when the browser app is used; we observed this with the Brave browser.
2 Guest Survey Results Report
This release adds host name and group name to the Guest Survey Results report.
3 User Report
This release adds a column indicating the user status in the User report.
